New and improved Pipex data centres
Pipex is expanding on a daily basis, and we have recently opened a new data centre in Manchester to complement our current presence in Leeds.
Our Manchester data centre, also known as ServerBank, provides state-of-the-art security with servers housed in a former Bank of England gold bullion vault. The data centre building is manned 24/7/365 and is monitored with over 70 CCTV cameras from a central security bridge.
But how secure is ‘secure’? Well, access is gained via two interlocking gates; the inner gate cannot be opened unless the outer gate is closed. In between the two gates is a 12-ton (bomb-proof) vault door, which can be closed air tight in the event of a fire to enable the gas suppression system an optimum working environment. The inner vault is surrounded by 7ft thick granite- and steel-loaded concrete walls, which in turn are surrounded by a 2ft bomb blast corridor and further 7ft thick granite- and steel-loaded concrete walls. The vault is below street level and sealed against flooding.
All this is accompanied by state-of-the-art fire prevention, climate control, power management, flooring and data centre LAN, making the ServerBank a formidable location to house our servers.
Our Leeds data centre is ever-growing, and to keep up with the expansion we are developing a brand new data centre right next door to the current building. Offering state-of-the-art data centre architecture and support, we are guaranteeing a strong and stable hosting platform for many years to come.
