This week we’re profiling a business owner who’s used our ecommerce package to create an online business. Amanda is 33 years old. She told us how about her website and how she started trading online.

What’s your business and why did you start it?

“I have worked in the fashion retail sector for about 13 years, and I now run my online fashion accessory store, Boutique Feet. I decided to trade online because I wanted to start my own business without the cost of overheads like rent and rates. I have loved doing it!

“I use the website to promote my business and sell online. I offer fashion accessories and footwear.”

How much technical knowledge do you have?

“This is my first website and I have very, very little technical knowledge. I am incredibly proud of what i have achieved so far.

“I like to tweak things when I can and there is still loads I would like to do with it. There are some features in the ecommerce package that I’ve not got round to using, so I know I still have room for improvement.

“I’ve changed things a few times since I started the site to find what works best for me, but the initial set up was really quick and easy. Things were up and running in no time - I just needed to add all the products.”

How much did you customise the design of your site?

“I found the templates really good to work with and I think the fact that everything is included with the package is why it works well for me!

“I think my site looks very professional and this has helped customer confidence. I have been contacted by several leading womens’ magazines asking me to feature in them, which is fab! I even get a few emails from people asking for advice. It makes me laugh because I probably don’t know what I’m talking about.

“When my friends and colleagues first visit my site they are very surprised by how good it looks. It’s not what they expect, knowing how limited my knowledge is in that field.”

Why did you choose 123-reg?

“I chose 123-reg because that’s where I bought my domain. I used InstantSite first but it didn’t include everything I was looking for at the time. The ecommerce package turned out to be exactly what I needed.”
